Aizawl: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma visited flood-hit areas in Serchhip district on Thursday to assess the damage and meet with affected residents. The Chief Minister, who also represents the Serchhip constituency, inspected sites of destruction in Serchhip town and nearby villages.

The flood situation across the Northeastern states continues to remain grim, with widespread devastation reported from several regions. Incessant rainfall has damaged infrastructure, submerged homes, and destroyed large stretches of farmland, leaving thousands affected and causing extensive economic losses.

CM Lalduhoma expressed deep concern over the severe impact of the rains, noting that many families have lost homes, property, and agricultural land. He assured residents that the state government would extend all possible relief and rehabilitation support, regardless of the scale of individual losses.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by Serchhip Deputy Commissioner Paul L Khuma, senior government officials, local community leaders, and representatives of the Serchhip ZPM Block.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow alerts for all Northeastern states. Moderate rainfall is expected to continue for the next seven days, with heavy showers likely in isolated areas of Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Manipur, and Tripura.
