Macadamization work on the vital Apple Valley Bijbehara–Pahalgam road was formally inaugurated today by Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Bijbehara, Dr. Bashir Ahmad Veeri.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Veeri highlighted the long-standing issues faced by locals due to the poor condition of the road.
“This stretch had been neglected for years, leading to numerous road mishaps and causing severe inconvenience to residents and tourists alike. Recognizing the urgency of the matter, I made it a priority to initiate the macadamization of this road,” he said.
He further added that the improved road connectivity will not only enhance travel safety but also boost local tourism and economic activities in the region, especially as Pahalgam remains a major tourist destination.
Locals and commuters have expressed gratitude for the long-awaited development and hailed the administration’s efforts in addressing their concerns.
The macadamization work is expected to be completed in a time-bound manner, ensuring minimal disruption to traffic movement.
