The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) today categorically stated that it does not play any role in approving or rejecting individual SMS campaign applications, countering recent media reports about a political party’s campaign in Maharashtra.
TRAI clarified that the approval or rejection of SMS templates is the responsibility of Telecom Service Providers (TSPs), conducted under rules prescribed by TCCCPR, 2018.
