Prime Minister Modi Begins Three-Nation Visit to Jordan, Ethiopia, and Oman

Visit To Mark Key Diplomatic Milestones, Deepen Ties With West Asia And Africa

New Delhi, December 15, 2025:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today departed on a three-nation visit to Jordan, Ethiopia, and Oman, aiming to strengthen India’s bilateral partnerships with the three countries that share deep civilisational ties and expanding contemporary relations with India.

The Prime Minister will first visit Jordan at the invitation of King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein. The visit assumes significance as it marks 75 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Jordan.

During his stay in Amman, Prime Minister Modi will hold discussions with King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, and Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II. 

He will also interact with members of the Indian community, acknowledging their contribution to strengthening India–Jordan relations.

From Jordan, the Prime Minister will travel to Ethiopia on the invitation of Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali. This will be his first visit to Ethiopia.

 Addis Ababa, which also hosts the headquarters of the African Union, holds particular importance following the African Union’s admission as a permanent member of the G20 during India’s G20 Presidency in 2023.

During the visit, the Prime Minister will hold bilateral talks with Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali , meet the Indian diaspora, and address a Joint Session of the Ethiopian Parliament, where he will share India’s democratic journey and discuss cooperation for the Global South.

The final leg of the visit will take the Prime Minister to Oman, marking 70 years of diplomatic relations between India and Oman. 

In Muscat, the Prime Minister will hold discussions with the Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, focusing on strengthening the Strategic Partnership and enhancing economic and commercial cooperation. 

He will also address members of the Indian diaspora, recognising their role in Oman’s development and in deepening India–Oman ties.
