He highlighted that the magnificent parade at Kartavya Path showcased the strength of India’s democracy, the richness of its heritage and the unity that binds the nation together.
Sharing glimpses from the celebrations on X, he said that Kartavya Path witnessed a powerful display of national pride during the Republic Day celebrations.
The Prime Minister said that India was privileged to host the President of the European Council, Mr António Costa, and the President of the European Commission, Ms Ursula von der Leyen, during the Republic Day celebrations.
He noted that their presence underscored the growing strength of the India–European Union partnership and India’s commitment to shared values.
He added that the visit would add momentum to the deepening engagement and cooperation between India and Europe across diverse sectors.
The Prime Minister said that the Republic Day parade showcased India’s formidable security apparatus, reflecting the nation’s preparedness, technological capability and unwavering commitment to safeguarding its citizens.
PM Modi said that the Republic Day parade offered a glimpse into the strengthening capabilities of India’s security forces. He said that India’s security forces are truly the pride of the nation, and shared glimpses highlighting their impressive presence during the parade.
Prime Minister Modi said that a vivid display of India’s cultural mosaic unfolded at Kartavya Path during the Republic Day celebrations.
PM Modi noted that the parade celebrated India’s cultural diversity through vibrant performances and tableaux, reflecting the rich and diverse heritage of the nation.
PM Thanks World Leaders for Republic Day Greetings
Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked the World Leaders for their greetings and wishes on the 77th Republic Day of India.
In response to a post on X by the Prime Minister of Bhutan, the Prime Minister said: “Thank you Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay and the people of Bhutan for the warm wishes on the 77th Republic Day of India. May the special bonds of friendship and unique ties between our nations continue to grow from strength to strength @tsheringtobgay”
Replying to a post by the President of France on X, the Prime Minister said: “Thank you my dear friend, President Emmanuel Macron for your warm wishes on India’s 77th Republic Day. In response to a post by the President of Cyprus, PM Modi said: “Thank you dear President Nikos Christodoulides for your warm wishes. PM Modi Pays Tributes to Brave Soldiers at Rashtriya Samar Smarak
On the occasion of Republic Day, 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, paid tributes at the Rashtriya Samar Smarak in New Delhi to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives for the nation.

Prime Minister Greets All Citizens on Republic Day
Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended greetings to all citizens on the occasion of Republic Day.

PM Shares Sanskrit Verse Highlighting Importance of Republic Day
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Republic Day is a powerful symbol of India’s freedom, Constitution and democratic values.
He noted that the occasion inspires the nation with renewed energy and motivation to move forward together with a firm resolve towards nation-building.
The Prime Minister shared a Sanskrit Verse on the occasion-
“पारतन्त्र्याà¤िà¤ूतस्य देशस्याà¤्युदयः कुतः।
अतः स्वातन्त्र्यमाप्तव्यमैक्यं स्वातन्त्र्यसाधनम्॥”
The verse conveys that a nation that is dependent or under subjugation cannot progress. Therefore, only by adopting freedom and unity as our guiding principles can the progress of the nation be ensured.
PM Shares Article on Citizen-Centric Governance and Constitutional Values
Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared an article written by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on the occasion of Republic Day.
Responding to the X post of Rajnath Singh about aforesaid article; PM Modi said: “On Republic Day, Raksha Mantri, Shri @rajnathsingh Ji, elaborates that citizens are at the centre of governance today. He notes that the republic is advancing social justice and enabling economic inclusion. Together, these efforts uphold the constitutional vision of a welfare-oriented democratic republic.”
Prime Minister Condoles Demise of D. Gnanasundaram
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep grief over the demise of D. Gnanasundaram.
In an X post, PM Modi said: “Deeply pained by the passing of Thiru D. Gnanasundaram Ji. His contribution to Tamil culture and literature will always be remembered. Through his writings and lifelong dedication, he enriched the cultural consciousness of society. His works will continue to inspire generations of readers and scholars.
I recall interacting with him during my visit to Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, Tiruchirappalli in January 2024. His understanding of the Kamba Ramayanam was exceptional.
