New Delhi, October 9, 2026:
A birth anniversary celebration and special discussion will be held in New
Delhi on October 11, 2026, to mark the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna
Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan.
Organised jointly by the Brihaspati Welfare Foundation and the Association of Voluntary Agencies for Rural Development (AVARD), the theme of special discussion is: “Loknayak: Kal, Aaj Aur Kal (Lok Nayak: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow)”.
The event will be held from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at AVARD headquarters- Kamladevi Bhawan, 5, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg, New Delhi.
JP and freedom fighter Kamaladevi
Chattopadhyaya established AVARD in 1958. Kamladevi served as the first
President of AVARD and later JP assumed presidency of the organization, steering
its focus toward decentralized rural development and voluntary action. He served as AVARD President from 1960 to 1979 till his demise.
The discussion aims to
reflect deeply on the relevance of Loknayak's ideas, his call for "Total
Revolution," and his vision of rural development for present and future
India.
The chief hosts of the programme are Padma Shri awardee and renowned sculptor Adwaita Charan Gadanayak, former Director General of the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) and former Vice President of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). Adwaita Charan Gadanayak is President of the Brihaspati Welfare Foundation, and Dr. B. Mishra is President of AVARD.
The Brihaspati Welfare Foundation and AVARD have warmly invited thinkers, social workers, intellectuals, and all citizens interested in nation-building to participate in this thought-provoking discussion.
