The bye election for Assembly Constituency 80 - Kaliganj in West Bengal concluded on June 23, 2025 with a landslide victory for the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC). 


Alifa Ahmed, daughter of the late MLA Nasiruddin Ahmed, secured a decisive mandate, continuing her father’s legacy in this rural Nadia district seat.


The bypoll, held after Nasiruddin Ahmed’s passing, saw a voter turnout of 69.85%. 


Here’s a detailed summary of the June 2025 Kaliganj bye election results.


Bye Election Results:

Kaliganj, West Bengal (Descending Order)


ALIFA AHMED (All India Trinamool Congress) won with 102,759 votes (102,179 EVM + 580 postal), capturing 55.15% of the total votes.


ASHISH GHOSH (Bharatiya Janata Party) finished second with 52,710 votes (52,424 EVM + 286 postal), accounting for 28.29% of the votes.


KABIL UDDIN SHAIKH (Indian National Congress) secured 28,348 votes (28,262 EVM + 86 postal), representing 15.21% of the total votes.


NOTA (None of the Above) was chosen by 2,502 voters (2,500 EVM + 2 postal), making up 1.34% of the votes.


Total Votes Polled: 186,319 (185,365 EVM + 954 postal).
