PM Modi Launches ₹18,600 Cr Projects to Transform Odisha

Bhubaneswar, June 20, 2025: 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched developmental initiatives worth over ₹18,600 crore during his visit to Bhubaneswar today, commemorating the first anniversary of the BJP-led state government in Odisha.

 

At a state-level function, the Prime Minister launched key infrastructure projects, including new railway services and a fleet of 100 electric buses aimed at boosting regional connectivity and advancing urban mobility through green, sustainable transport systems.

 

Marking a major milestone, PM Modi launched new train services to Boudh district, connecting it to India’s railway map for the first time.  It fulfilled a long-pending demand and enhancing access to the heartland region of Odisha.

 

In a push toward clean energy, the Prime Minister also launched 100 electric buses under the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) network, positioning Bhubaneswar as a leader in eco-friendly urban transit and sustainable development.

 

PM Modi further launched the Odisha Vision Document, outlining the state's long-term development roadmap. It focuses on inclusive growth with targets set for 2036, when Odisha will complete  100 years as a linguistic state, and 2047, India’s centenary of independence.

 

Celebrating Odisha’s cultural legacy, the Prime Minister launched the ‘Baraputra Aitihya Gram Yojana’

, an initiative to develop birthplaces of iconic Odias into heritage sites with museums, libraries, statues, and public spaces to promote cultural tourism.

 

Recognising the role of women in grassroots empowerment, PM Modi felicitated several ‘Lakhpati Didis’ from across Odisha.


Over 16.5 lakh women have achieved economic self-reliance through self-help groups, making them symbols of prosperity and resilience in rural communities.
