New Delhi, June 30, 2025:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Argentina on July 4–5, 2025, at the invitation of President Javier Milei.

This marks the first bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Argentina in 57 years, following PM Modi’s visit for the 2018 G20 Summit.

Strategic Focus: Energy, Defence, Trade, and More

In a special briefing, Secretary (East) P. Kumaran from the Ministry of External Affairs emphasized that the visit aims to deepen cooperation in defence, agriculture, mining, oil and gas, renewable energy, trade, investment, and people-to-people ties.

These discussions are expected to strengthen the strategic partnership between both nations.

Argentina’s Energy Potential a Key Driver

Argentina is home to the world’s second-largest shale gas reserves and the fourth-largest shale oil deposits, in addition to conventional energy resources. This positions Argentina as a potential energy partner in India’s long-term energy security plans.

A Visit to Deepen Bilateral Engagement

The visit is expected to boost multifaceted collaboration across critical sectors. Prime Minister Modi’s engagement with Argentina signals renewed momentum in India-Latin America relations and highlights a mutual interest in long-term cooperation.
