New Delhi, July 12, 2025:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed the 16th Rozgar Mela via videoconferencing and distributed over 51,000 appointment letters to newly inducted personnel in various government departments.

Emphasizing the central role of youth in India’s progress, he highlighted the transformative impact of employment and welfare initiatives in nation-building.

Youth Power is India's Greatest Strength: PM

The Prime Minister underscored that India’s demographic and democratic capital — its youth and vibrant democracy — are key to shaping a prosperous future.

Today, more than 51,000 youths have been given appointment letters. Through Rozgar Melas, lakhs have already secured permanent government jobs, he said.

Referring to his recent five-nation visit, PM Modi mentioned that international agreements in critical sectors like defence, pharma, digital tech, energy, and rare earths will create opportunities for India’s youth both at home and abroad.

Boosting Innovation, Startups, and Private Sector Jobs

PM Modi emphasized that employment landscapes are evolving in the 21st century, driven by innovation and startups.

India’s growing ecosystem of research, innovation, and startups is empowering youth to dream big, the PM noted.

He also announced the recently approved Employment Linked Incentive Scheme, under which the government will contribute ₹15,000 towards the first salary of youth getting their first private-sector job. With a budget of ₹1 lakh crore, the scheme aims to create 3.5 crore jobs.

Manufacturing Sector as a Job Generator

The Prime Minister declared manufacturing as one of India’s greatest strengths. Under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme, over 11 lakh jobs have been created.

He cited India's rapid progress in electronics, especially mobile phone manufacturing — growing from just 2–4 units to nearly 300 units now, generating employment for lakhs.

India is also becoming a global force in defence manufacturing, locomotive and metro coach production, and the automobile sector, which has attracted $40 billion in FDI over the past five years.

Welfare Schemes Driving Employment

PM Modi shared an International Labour Organization (ILO) report noting that over 90 crore Indians have been covered under government welfare schemes over the past decade.

Key schemes mentioned include:

PM Awas Yojana: 4 crore homes built, 3 crore under construction.

Swachh Bharat: 12 crore toilets built, creating jobs for plumbers and workers.

Ujjwala Yojana: 10 crore LPG connections, boosting bottling and delivery jobs.

PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana: Offers ₹75,000 for rooftop solar, creating jobs for engineers, technicians, and manufacturers.

Empowering Women and Informal Workers

The Prime Minister highlighted initiatives like Namo Drone Didi and the mission to create 3 crore Lakhpati Didis, with 1.5 crore women already achieving this status. Programs such as Bank Sakhi, Krishi Sakhi, and PM SVANidhi have formalized employment and boosted incomes for millions, including artisans and street vendors.

Poverty Eradication Through Employment

Citing global recognition, PM Modi said 25 crore people have come out of poverty in the last decade, crediting it to massive employment generation.

Today, global institutions like the World Bank are recognizing India’s progress in achieving equality, he noted.

A Mahayagya of Development

Calling this period a “Mahayagya of development,” the Prime Minister urged the newly appointed recruits to carry forward the mission of poverty eradication and employment generation, guided by the ethos of "Nagrik Devo Bhava".

About Rozgar Mela

Scheduled to be held at 47 locations nationwide, the 16th Rozgar Mela reaffirms the government’s commitment to employment generation. Over 10 lakh appointment letters have been issued so far through this initiative.

New appointees will serve in ministries including Railways, Home Affairs, Posts, Health & Family Welfare, Financial Services, and Labour & Employment, said a PIB Press release.
