PM Modi’s Independence Day Speech: Operation Sindoor, Security Shield, and Roadmap to Viksit Bharat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed the nation from the ramparts of Red Fort on the 79th Independence Day.

His speech covered a wide range of themes, policies, achievements, and new announcements guiding the vision for “Viksit Bharat” by 2047. 

Here are Major Highlights from PM Modi’s Independence Day Address:

National Unity and Pride

* PM Modi said that this grand festival of Independence is a celebration of the 140 crore resolutions of our people.

* He added: 140 crore Indians are adorned in the colours of the Tricolour, which is fluttering everywhere. 

Remembrance, Tribute, Greeting

* PM Modi remembered Constitution makers like Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Babasaheb Ambedkar, Pandit Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, Hansa Mehta, and Dakshayani Velayudhan.

* He paid tribute to Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee on his birth anniversary and termed the removal of Article 370 from erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir as a real tribute to Dr. Mookerjee.

* Extended Independence Day greetings to citizens, grassroots leaders, “Drone Didis,” “Lakhpati Didis,” sportspersons, and global friends.

Resilience against Natural Disasters

* PM Modi acknowledged recent natural calamities and praised state-Centre collaboration in rescue and relief.

Operation Sindoor and National Security

* PM Modi saluted the heroes of Operation Sindoor, describing the army’s decisive action in response to the Pahalgam terror attack as a “new normal” for security.

* He said Pakistan is still sleepless after Operation Sindoor. 

* The PM reaffirmed zero-tolerance for nuclear blackmail, declaring India’s resolve to respond to terror on its own terms.

* He highlighted “Made in India” defence capabilities as key to swift action.

* Announced Sudarshan Chakra Mission—an advanced technology-based national security shield for all strategic and civilian sites by 2035.

Indus Waters Treaty: Water for Bharat

* PM Modi asserted that the Indus Waters Treaty has harmed Indian farmers for seven decades by providing water to enemy fields while India’s soil remained thirsty.

* Declared: “Blood and water will not flow together,” stating that water from rivers originating in India will be reserved solely for Bharat and its farmers.

* Announced that the old form of the Indus Agreement will no longer be tolerated, and water rights will be reclaimed in the interest of Indian farmers.

Self-Reliance and Economic Vision

* The PM urged citizens to embrace deeper self-reliance linked to national capability.

* Announced missions for deepwater oil/gas exploration (National Deep Water Exploration Mission) and critical minerals independence (National Critical Mineral Mission).

* Celebrated progress in solar energy (thirtyfold increase), ongoing nuclear capacity expansion, and private participation in the nuclear sector.

* PM Modi said India achieved the 50% clean energy target five years ahead of schedule—2030.

Technology-Driven Development

* The PM highlighted the shift toward technology-led growth—semiconductor chips “Made in India” to be launched this year after decades of delay.

* Highlighted progress in space science: Aatmanirbhar Gaganyaan, plans for an Indian space station, and growth of 300+ space start-ups.

Welfare, Women Empowerment, Employment

* PM Modi announced 25 crore poor elevated out of poverty in 10 years, creating a new “neo-middle class.”

* Said Direct Benefit Transfer enables saturation coverage of government schemes.

* Women’s empowerment—2 crore “Lakhpati Didis”; 10 crore women Self Help Group members celebrated.

* The PM announced launching the Rs 1 lakh crore Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana from today to create 3.5 crore jobs.

Agriculture and Rural Development

* PM Modi said India leads in global production of milk, pulses, jute; second in fish, rice, wheat, fruits, and vegetables.

* Informed agro-exports reached Rs 4 lakh crore.

* Said farmers have trust in crop insurance.

* PM Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana supports 100 agriculture lagging districts; 125 crore free livestock vaccines administered.

* Reiterated India will never accept any compromise regarding its farmers, livestock farmers, or fishermen.

Reform Agenda and Economic Growth

* Government abolished over 1,500 outdated laws and more than 40,000 unnecessary compliances.

* Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita replaced the British era Indian Penal Code.

* Income Tax Act reformed (over 280 sections deleted; Rs 12 lakh income exemption).

* Next-generation GST reforms upcoming this Diwali to ease tax burden and lower essential commodity prices.

Manufacturing, MSMEs, and Quality Movement

* National Manufacturing Mission progressing; MSMEs central to innovation and exports.

* The PM advocated for “Lower price, higher value” and reiterated “Zero Defect, Zero Effect” and “High Quality” manufacturing philosophy.

Call for Swadeshi Mantra

* PM Modi said let us make 'Vocal for Local' the mantra of our lives by choosing only products made in Bharat, strengthening self-reliance and pride in our soil.

* He urged every trader to display ‘Swadeshi goods sold here’ and lead this movement with strength, not compulsion.

Social Justice and Priority for Backward and Tribal Regions

* The PM remembered Mahatma Jyotiba Phule’s legacy; reaffirmed “priority to the backward.”

* Highlighted targeted regional upliftment—Aspirational districts, blocks, tribal regions, and Eastern Bharat.

* Said Naxal/Maoist-affected districts reduced from 125+ to 20.

* PM Modi termed freeing tribal areas from Naxalism as a tribute to Bhagwan Birsa Munda on his 150th Birth Anniversary.

Sports and Health

* The Prime Minister said from school to the Olympics, we wish to develop an entire sports ecosystem.

* Highlighted Khelo India, National Sports Policy, focus on talent and indigenous sports equipment.

* PM Modi warned against obesity, urging families to cut cooking oil consumption by 10%.

Remembering Guru Teg Bahadur Ji

* PM Modi said our nation draws strength from a heritage thousands of years old.

* On Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s 350th martyrdom anniversary this year, PM Modi bowed in reverence to the Sikh Guru's supreme sacrifice for Indian culture and values.

Salute to All Swayamsevaks

* PM Modi termed the 100-year-old Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh as the world’s largest NGO, and saluted all the swayamsevaks.

Heritage, Cultural Identity, and Linguistic Pride

* PM Modi highlighted linguistic diversity—classical language status for Marathi, Assamese, Bangla, Pali, and Prakrit.

* Said Gyan Bharatam Mission is preserving ancient manuscripts technologically.

Emergency and Five Oaths

* PM Modi said 50 years after the Emergency that strangled Indian Constitution, we must never forget this betrayal and must strengthen our resolve to uphold the Constitution as our guiding inspiration.

* Reiterated Five Oaths: developed India, freedom from slavery, pride in heritage, unity, and national duty.

Roadmap to Viksit Bharat 2047

* PM Modi said with the strength of 140 crore Indians, we will seize and create every opportunity to achieve a developed India by 2047, moving forward with unwavering resolve.

Closing Appeal

* Prime Minister Modi invited every Indian to work hard for collective achievement, saying: “The one who has toiled hard… is the one who has bent the time.”
