Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed the nation from the ramparts of Red Fort on the 79th Independence Day.
His speech covered a wide range of themes, policies, achievements, and new announcements guiding the vision for “Viksit Bharat” by 2047.
Here are Major Highlights from PM Modi’s Independence Day Address:
National Unity and Pride
* PM Modi said that this grand festival of Independence is a celebration of the 140 crore resolutions of our people.
* He added: 140 crore Indians are adorned in the colours of the Tricolour, which is fluttering everywhere.
Remembrance, Tribute,
Greeting
* PM Modi remembered
Constitution makers like Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Babasaheb Ambedkar, Pandit Nehru,
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, Hansa Mehta, and
Dakshayani Velayudhan.
* He paid tribute to Dr.
Syama Prasad Mookerjee on his birth anniversary and termed the removal of
Article 370 from erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir as a real tribute to Dr.
Mookerjee.
* Extended Independence Day
greetings to citizens, grassroots leaders, “Drone Didis,” “Lakhpati Didis,”
sportspersons, and global friends.
Resilience against Natural Disasters
* PM Modi acknowledged recent natural calamities and praised state-Centre collaboration in rescue and relief.

of Operation Sindoor, describing the army’s decisive action in response to the
Pahalgam terror attack as a “new normal” for security.

Indus Waters Treaty: Water for Bharat
* PM Modi asserted that the
Indus Waters Treaty has harmed Indian farmers for seven decades by providing
water to enemy fields while India’s soil remained thirsty.
* Declared: “Blood and water
will not flow together,” stating that water from rivers originating in India
will be reserved solely for Bharat and its farmers.
* Announced that the old form of the Indus Agreement will no longer be tolerated, and water rights will be reclaimed in the interest of Indian farmers.
Self-Reliance and Economic
Vision
* The PM urged citizens to embrace
deeper self-reliance linked to national capability.
* Announced missions for
deepwater oil/gas exploration (National Deep Water Exploration Mission) and
