Puducherry, June 16, 2025:

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar today asserted that issues of national security transcend political affiliations and interests.

He was delivering the Chief Guest address at a programme organised by the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry, on the theme ‘Environmental Sustainability in Building the Nation’

Referring to India’s recent Operation Sindoor, the Vice President said the mission earned global recognition for both its success and restraint.

He lauded the united stand of various political parties in explaining India’s position on the global stage and remarked that this is the Bharat we need every day for national security and national development.

Reflecting on the achievements of the past 11 years of the Modi Government, VP Dhankhar highlighted exponential economic growth, phenomenal infrastructure development, and widespread digitisation that have transformed the lives of ordinary citizens, especially in rural areas.

He said India has risen from double digit global economic rank to the fourth position and is poised to soon become the third-largest economy in the world.

On the subject of environmental sustainability, the Vice President urged people to avoid the reckless exploitation of natural resources and instead focus on their optimal and sustainable use.

He called upon medical students to contribute towards making India a global hub for medical research and the manufacturing of medical equipments.

Emphasising the conducive ecosystem in India today, VP Dhankhar said that every talented and ambitious youth has the opportunity to thrive and realise their aspirations.

Highlighting Puducherry’s unique potential, he described the Union Territory as a dream destination for spirituality and tourism, and said it could emerge as a global centre for wellness and health. Promoting such development, he said, should be a national priority.

As part of the event, the Vice President also planted a sapling at the JIPMER campus under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign.

Lt. Governor K. Kailashnathan, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, Legislative Assembly Speaker R. Selvam, MPs S. Selvaganabathy and V. Vaithilingam, MLA V. Aroumougame, Chief Secretary Sarath Chauhan, and JIPMER Director Dr. Vir Singh Negi were also present.
