Background: 10 Years of Special Strategic Partnership

India and South Korea elevated their ties to a "Special Strategic Partnership" in 2015 during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s state visit to Seoul.

Since then, the collaboration has expanded beyond traditional diplomacy into sectors like Artificial Intelligence, semiconductors, and defence manufacturing. The bilateral relationship also benefits from strong people-to-people exchanges and a robust Korean presence in India’s industrial landscape, particularly in automobile and electronics manufacturing.

As the strategic partnership enters its next decade, both nations aim to expand cooperation in emerging technologies and critical supply chains, with a shared focus on economic resilience and regional peace.
