The Monsoon Session in the Lok Sabha began with tributes to deceased former MPs but quickly descended into chaos during Question Hour as opposition members raised loud protests.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla requested that issues be raised after Question Hour, but the disruptions continued.

Consequently, the House was adjourned successively—first till 12 noon, then till 2 PM, and later till 4 PM.

As the uproar persisted, the Speaker finally adjourned the House for the day. Proceedings will now resume on Tuesday at 11 A.M.

Meanwhile, BJP MP Baijayant Panda tabled the report of the Select Committee on the Income Tax Bill, 2025. The committee held 36 meetings over five months, offering 285 recommendations aimed at simplifying and improving transparency in the tax system.

The Rajya Sabha opened with the oath-taking of five new members: Birendra Prasad Baishya (AGP), Kanad Purkayastha (BJP), Dr. Meenakshi Jain (nominated), C. Sadanandan Master, and Harsh Vardhan Shringla.

Tributes were paid to deceased MPs and victims of the Pahalgam terror attack and Ahmedabad plane crash. Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge was greeted on his birthday.

Opposition members submitted 18 notices under Rule 267 over Operation Sindoor and other matters, but Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar rejected all, sparking protests. The House was adjourned till 12 noon.

After resumption, Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu responded to ministry questions, and Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal introduced the Bill of Lading, 2025, which passed after discussion.

The House was ultimately adjourned for the day and will reconvene at 11:00 AM on July 22, 2025.
